Completion of ‘Spire London’ is scheduled for 2020

The 771-foot-tall “Spire London”—expected to be completed in 2020—will be Western Europe’s tallest residential tower. Designed by Larry Malcic and Christopher Colosimo of HOK, the 67-story building plan was launched by Greenland Group, one of China’s largest luxury residential developers. Nicola Fontanella of Argent Design will design the interiors.

According to HOK’s website, the petal-shaped design was inspired by the orchid, a flower cultivated in China for more than 3,000 years. Three petals form the tower’s pinnacle, creating faceted glass façades with “prow” and “bow” contours, while the angled roof allows for external terraces in the penthouse. The bronze-colored metal detailing on the lower levels of the tower were inspired by the historic tan bricks of the neighboring buildings along the dock basin.

The tower has been designed to provide the highest and most far-reaching views of London ever provided by apartments in the capital, encompassing the Thames, Canary Wharf, the City of London, and numerous famous and historic landmarks. There will be an impressive nine elevators to transport the residents to and from their floors.
