An Haute Touch: Curating the Perfect Home Library Bookcase

While a beautiful library room is the ultimate crowning glory of an impressive home, a surprising lack of attention seems to affect the books themselves. Bookcases offer an oft-overlooked opportunity to add an element of design which reflects your taste, style, and preferences. Interior design firm Trip Haenisch & Associates recently shared some pointers with CasaSugar on how you can curate your own bookcase.

  •  Do something special with the top shelf of your bookcases. Check out the inspirational view from actress Diane Keaton’s library.
  • Don’t hesitate to accessorize your bookshelf with items that have a personal significance. At designer Friederike Kemp Biggs’ Upper East Side home, everything from paintings to statues have their place on the bookshelf.
  • Avoid a chaotic look by organizing the books by color and size: treat each shelf like an artistic display. At this Sally Sirkin Lewis-designed home, the organization of the books allows other elements, like the Le Corbusier Grand Confort armchair, to shine.
