Tom Petty’s Malibu beach house has just been listed on the market for a little under $10 million.
Compass agent Chris Cortazzo, who originally sold Petty the property back in 2010, represents the cabin-like, oceanfront home once again.
The home inspired one of Petty’s hits “Something Good Coming”, to which his wife Dana adds “Tommy always had his recorder and guitar, as he was always writing and creating. I remember him writing so many songs there.”
Both the main and guest home have full-width ocean-view decks and access to Escondido Beach. The guest house was used by Petty as a studio and is equipped with chandelier-height ceilings, a kitchenette, and a full bathroom.
The property is made up of 16,000 square feet of living space and 66 feet of beach-front.
The interiors of the main house are built in wood, brick, and stone and complemented with glass walls and a tiled fireplace.
“When Tom first walked into the home, he just loved the essence and the spirit. He loved its originality – it was unpretentious which was very much his spirit. Every holiday was celebrated there,” Cortazzo commented.
