The Robert A.M. Stern-designed, Arthur Zeckendorf-developed limestone tower at 520 Park Avenue will soon be crowned with New York City’s most expensive apartment listing. The residence—currently being offered for an astounding $130 million—is set to dethrone the current holder of the title: a trio of uncombined penthouse apartments at Battery Park City’s Ritz-Carlton residences, with an asking price of $118.5 million.
Located on at the intersection of 60th and 61st streets, the penthouse will be a triplex totaling 12,394-square-feet, and will boast a 1,257-square-foot terrace and Central Park views.
The other 23 full-floor units in the building are about 4,600-squae-feet, with prices starting at $16.2 million. There will also be seven duplexes of almost-10,000-square-feet, starting at $67 million, placing them on the list of the city’s 25 most expensive apartments currently on sale.
Jonathan Miller, president of appraiser Miller Samuel Inc., said in an interview about the astronomical price tag, “In the best-case scenario, it is providing a bold stroke to the market, implying that there are buyers out there for this price point.”
Sales will begin early next year, with completion slated for 2017.
