Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita have opened the doors to their $1 billion, 27-story Mumbai home for the first time.<\/p>\n
It’s been rumored to have multiple helicopter landing areas and a snow room, and measures 400,000 square feet.<\/p>\n
The family moved in to the home, named Antilla, last September.\u00a0“It’s a modern home with an Indian heart,” Nita said.\u00a0Indian inspiration fills the Ambani home adorned with rare wood, marble and crystal. The home’s accents were crafted by Indian artisans.<\/p>\n
With double and triple height ceilings on some floors, the building climbs skyward nearly 600 feet, the equivalent of a 40 story building. It features a multistory garage, a grand ballroom, guest suites, a spa and a theater.\u00a0The family living area for the Ambanis and their three children is near the top of the building surrounded by terraced gardens.<\/p>\n
Despite the Ambani’s well-known philanthropy–they formed a cricket team, built a hospital and are developing a university–the home has its critics.\u00a0Some say the home is far too opulent for a city where so many people live in slums, while some don’t even have a home at all.<\/p>\n
