In a recent interview, Joyce Rey talked with Seth Semilof, the co-founder and COO of Haute Media Group. Renowned as a top-tier luxury real estate agent in Beverly Hills, Joyce Rey leads the Global Luxury division at Coldwell Banker. Recognized as one of the most accomplished real estate professionals in the United States, she has skillfully represented clients in transactions involving prestigious residences.<\/p>\n

The conversation centered on Joyce’s background, commitment, and personal journey. Here are a few key moments from their discussion:<\/p>\n

Seth Semilof: We’ve been talking a lot about the ups, but real estate is also known for the downs. Can you share a challenging experience you’ve encountered in your career and the lessons you’ve learned?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joyce Rey:<\/strong> Well, of course, you know there are a lot of downs, and I’ve been through a lot. I think one of the toughest times I went through was during the savings and loan crisis in the nineties \u2013 we had very little selling. You kinda had to work like crazy and hope to God you got lucky, but I always say that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. <\/span><\/p>\n

SS: So Beverly Hills is a highly competitive real estate market. What strategies have you employed to stand out consistently and to succeed in such a competitive market?<\/strong><\/p>\n

JR:<\/strong>\u00a0Well, one of the things I’ve always tried to do is embrace innovation. I was the first person to have a website in the early nineties. Someone called me up and said, ‘Do you want a website?’ and I said, ‘<\/span>I’m not sure what that is, but yes, I do.’ But, I think that you have to always look for new ways to bring in business, new places to advertise, and new ideas. You have to do every single thing you can do.<\/span><\/p>\n

SS: What advice would you give to someone watching this? That’s an aspiring realtor looking to build a successful career in the luxury real estate market based on your own experiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n

JR: I think one great thing is education. Plenty of people are very successful without a formal education, but I have a Master’s degree in business, and I think that helped me along the way. You also have to care about people. You can’t be a good realtor unless you care about people \u2013 that’s just a number one prerequisite, and you have to be willing to devote the time and effort.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
