Elizabeth Lounge Chair<\/strong> (Ottoman also available)<\/p>\n

Named after and owned by royalty itself, the Elizabeth Lounge Chair emulates a majestic elegance. Originally named the Model U56, it was later dubbed Elizabeth Chair after the iconic Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip purchased two of them during an official visit to Denmark in 1958. The lounge is well-proportioned and well designed with sculpted arm rests and a sleigh-like back.<\/p>\n

Oda Lounge Chair\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Oda Lounge Chair is the perfect portrayal of a timeless design. Taking it all the way back to 1956, Arnold Madsen created the aesthetic reinterpretation of an armchair. The Oda Chair has a complex horseshoe profile with a headrest and beautifully incorporated wooden armrests providing comfortable support. Due to there being no original drawing of the chair design available, the construction was based off of a vintage piece. Upon reconstructing the chair, it was clear that the Oda was designed with a superb level of craftsmanship, evident in the intricacy of its upholstery.<\/p>\n

The Penguin Rocking Chair<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Penguin Rocking Chair is a piece of art within itself, leaning towards the American modernists from the 1950s and ’60s. The chair is designed with a curved back, giving it an open concept against the stringent steel frame. Credited to Ib Kofod-Larsen, the design is a piece of Danish cultural heritage and design history with a modern touch. The rocker\u2019s beautiful silhouette and sculptural touches make the chair both contrasting and playful, while being well-proportioned.<\/span><\/div>\n

With the Pagode Sofa, MENU wanted to recreate an iconic 1956 piece of history. Icons of the Danish mid-century modern period, Tove and Edvard Kindt-Larsen were the inspirations behind this piece. As legends in silverware, jewelry, textile design, and of course, furniture design, the duo is credited for reviving individual furniture pieces adding a curated uniqueness. MENU is now reintroducing their exquisite Pagode Sofa, inspired by Asian architecture and temples.<\/p>\n

Another one of Ib Kofod-Larsen\u2019s designs\u2014arguably one of his best-known\u2014is The Seal Lounge Chair. Appropriately named after the Swedish ski resort, S\u00e4len, the chair slopes down, providing comfort and encouraging lounging with its carefully thought out angled frame. Despite being made of heavy materials, the shell seems to float naturally inside the wooden frame. The design is typical of it\u2019s time yet entirely timeless. The chair is available in both a low or high back.<\/p>\n

Radiohus Sofa<\/strong><\/p>\n

Exclusively designed by Lauritzen for the foyer of The Royal Danish Academy of Music, also known as Radiohus, is the Radiohus Sofa. The 1936 design is a well-known symbol of Danish functionalism and modernism much like the architecture in the Academy itself. The design features elegant straight lines with consideration of a futuristic construction, and contradicting curved lines to create a welcoming expression.
