Between 1936 and 1938, Henry and Clara Ford<\/a> built what has become known affectionately as The Main House. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the approximately 7,000-sq-ft Greek revival mansion was constructed from Savannah gray bricks that were repurposed from the original 1820s-era Hermitage Plantation. The first floor of The Main House includes a library, a breakfast room, a kitchen and a formal living room that is used for discussion dinners, book club dinners, wine dinners, and other special events. The second floor provides five elegant suites available to members and guests. Throughout the year, the house serves as a social hub for residents, creating a community atmosphere that goes hand in hand with Georgian hospitality.<\/p>\n
