Nearly 100 years after the Roaring Twenties, developers are celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Jazz Age by bringing back the classic Art Deco architecture style of the era in new developments. Geometric crowns, stained glass, and materials like bronze, brick, and brass have inspired the design in these standout buildings. Ushering in the new ’20s, these modern creations offer a nod to the past while rebelling against the glass boxes that have dominated the New York skyline over the past 15 years.<\/p>\n

Rose Hill<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Developed by the original builders of\u00a0Rockefeller Center and designed with a vintage “Gotham-esque” flair,\u00a0Rose Hill\u00a0<\/a>is a new 45-story luxury\u00a0condominium tower currently under\u00a0construction at 30 East 29th Street.\u00a0With architecture and interior design by\u00a0<\/span>the acclaimed global architecture firm\u00a0CetraRuddy<\/a>,\u00a0Rose Hill draws a direct connection back to Rockefeller\u00a0Center with\u00a0its heavy Art Deco influence of the 20th century.\u00a0Rising over 600 feet in\u00a0height, the building is eloquently clad in a bronze-tone fa\u00e7ade, accented by intricate detailing\u00a0that frames\u00a0expansive\u00a0glass windows. Taking its place among New York\u2019s architectural icons\u00a0and inspired by the Rockefeller Group\u2019s\u00a0landmark developments, decorative lighting will illuminate the tower\u2019s base and crown to highlight the building\u2019s unique articulation. The contemporary design,\u00a0although rooted in\u00a0the past, speaks to today’s modern New Yorker.<\/p>\n

The Kent<\/strong><\/h4>\n

At\u00a0The Kent<\/a>\u00a0on the Upper East Side, the classic uptown buildings of the 1920s have been reinvented. Renowned architectural firm Beyer Blinder Belle, known for restoring classic buildings such as the Empire State Building and City Hall, designed The Kent to be reminiscent of landmark Art Deco buildings. The facade is constructed of classic brick and limestone, accented by metalwork paneling and large windows, with a series of steel and glass lanterns crowning the building. Indoors, celebrated designer Champalimaud<\/a> designed interiors that evoke a different era, with custom chandeliers and Art Deco-inspired accents, including a French Vanilla marble fireplace and bar in the lobby lounge, and brass elevator doors that recall vintage elevator carriages.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
