In an essay written by Marilyn Abildskov entitled\u00a0One Blue Note<\/i>, the essayist tells how she once heard a trumpeter say that he could tell a whole story in a single note, and then that jazz musician segued into playing one long note. The author began to cry. \u201cThe note was a story, as promised, and like all stories, it held me,” said Abildskov “starting off as most stories do, ordinary enough, then veering off into something inexplicably . . . beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

And that describes the Big Easy, no? It’s a city with that one note effect. A single city with a rhythm, style and attitude all its own, casting an allure that draws people in with its one long captivating legacy.
