The city of Dubai has a penchant for pursuing the impossible and converting it into not just a possibility, but a reality. What started out as a small pearl fishing village among the desert sands has, in the span of a few short decades, blossomed into one of the world\u2019s foremost cities in terms of design, architecture and luxury. The Palm began construction back in 2001, using over 100 million cubic meters of sand from the sea bed that were formed into the shape of a palm tree comprising a trunk and 17 palm fronds. While it took almost a decade for it to finally be completed, in no small part due to the sheer scale and complexity of the design, by 2007 it was already known as the largest artificial island in the world. Palm Jumeirah is divided primarily among five-star beach resorts and lavish oceanfront villas, making it one of the cornerstones of luxury in Dubai and a perfect emblem of the city\u2019s vibrant lifestyle.<\/p>\n
