A cool $21.8 million was recently paid for the mansion at 2250 Vallejo St.<\/a>, San Francisco\u2019s most expensive home.<\/p>\n

Originally listed for $28.5 million, the home in Pacific Heights was sold to 30-year-old tech billionaire Kyle Vogt, TheOpenHouse.com<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Vogt has earned his fortune in the past two years by selling two highly-successful startups, which he founded. Those startups were Twitch, which sold to Amazon for about one billion dollars, and Cruise, which sold to General Motors for an even greater amount.<\/p>\n

\"2250<\/a><\/p>\n

Built in 1901 and designed by late San Francisco architect James F. Dunn, according to the property listing,<\/a> the five-story, 9,095-square-foot residence has a storied history of ownership. It was built for James Madison, a Danish entrepreneur who grew rich from his business with the Alaska Salmon Company in the packing industry.<\/p>\n

The property housed wounded soldiers during World War II, and later, former San Francisco mayor, Angelo Joseph Rossi (1931\u20131944), lived in the home. At one time, it was converted into an 11-unit apartment building.<\/p>\n

Then, in 2012, Bryan Meehan and Tara Meehan of Blue Bottle Coffee bought the residence for $6.95 million, with the intent to convert it back into a single-family mansion. They never lived in it, but TheOpenHouse.com<\/a> reported that the Meehans did renovate the home into what Vogt bought.<\/p>\n

Exceptional views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay can be seen throughout the light-filled, elegant interior that is adorned with contemporary materials and finishes. Luxurious rooms and amenities include a wine room, a media room, four fireplaces, an elevator, and an infinity plunge pool, and a lower terrace and garden\u2013\u2013in addition to a master suite and six additional bedrooms.<\/p>\n
