Looking for a romantic vacation or private getaway? Well, there\u2019s a hidden gem in the Dominican Republic called Puerto Bahia Samana. Centrally located in the protected gated community is The Bannister Hotel with one- and two-bedroom suites that feature private balconies that overlook the yacht club, marina, and Samana Bay. For larger groups or families, there are private mountainside villas that overlook a series of swimming pools that cascade down to the marina level below. Community amenities for both the villas and hotel condos include the hotel lobby bar and lounge that overlook the glistening waters of the marina; three restaurants; multiple swimming pools; a gymnasium and fitness center, beauty salon and spa; and tennis courts.<\/p>\n

So why is this a private getaway? This unique resort is still undiscovered. Because of this, the international airport, which is only 35 minutes away, is served only by international charter jets and not yet regularly scheduled airline service. Thus, it\u2019s still not on the radar screen of the everyday tourist.<\/p>\n

The exciting, and romantic, news is that a seaplane service is in the formative stages. When in operation, it will be possible for people to book flights into the Punta Cana International Airport on the east side of the Dominican Republic, and part of the package will be door-to-door service by an amphibious seaplane. In other words, after clearing customs in Punta Cana, hotel guests will be able to board the six-passenger seaplane and enjoy a 30-minute flight to Samana Bay before landing on the calm waters of Samana Bay and taking a taxi by water directly to the hotel.<\/p>\n

Once settled in, float plane tours can be booked for whale watching, excursions to various private beaches around the Samana Bay, or the Los Haitises National Park. For golfers, early morning flights can be booked for rounds of golf in famous places like Casa De Campo and Punta Cana.<\/p>\n

In addition to condominiums and villas for rent, there are also units available for sale. In some cases, prices include a membership in the Samana Bay Air and Sea Club. These memberships are valued at $25,000 USD and can either be retained as an asset or sold for cash. Benefits of club membership include discounted charter rates and standby travel when empty seats are available. For licensed pilots who have taken float plane training and passed the final exam, flight privileges will also be granted.<\/p>\n
