Adrian Smith<\/strong> and Gordon Gill<\/strong>, key architects behind Burj Khalifa\u2014the world\u2019s [current]\u00a0tallest building\u2014will be the masterminds of an all-commercial building soon to be taller than the Khalifa called the “Burj 2020.”<\/p>\n

Chosen by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), the Chicago-based duo\u00a0share an affinity for designing high-altitude buildings, such as the Kingdom Tower presently underway in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia\u2014a kilometer-high structure that will also contend for the “world\u2019s tallest building” title.<\/p>\n

Details of the Burj 2020\u2019s designs have not yet emerged, but DMCC chief Ahmed bin Sulayem<\/strong> says, \u201cIt will be a mega high structure floor-wise.\u201d Situated in the Burj 2020 District among commercial, retail, and hotel spaces, the Burj tower will feature a 360-degree observation deck.<\/p>\n
