One of the reasons Los Angeles is so special is that\u00a0within mere minutes you can go from chic shopping and dining to being completely surrounded by nature, ocean, and fresh air. My favorite way to enjoy the beautiful city we live in is to go hiking, not only is it great exercise, but it is a brief escape from our busy lives. If you\u2019re lucky you may even lose cell reception and be forced to completely disconnect. These are a few of my favorites hiking trails.<\/p>\n

\"Solstice<\/a>
Solstice Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Solstice Canyon in Malibu, which is located just seconds off Pacific Coast Highway, is by far one of the greatest hikes I have ever been on. It starts out on a quiet path leading through a picturesque arbor of light green trees and then onto a trail that takes you to the relics of an old stone cottage. Head up to the waterfall hidden beneath shady trees, or continue upwards for a good workout and absolutely stunning views of the mountains and ocean. Both a regular spot for locals and destination for others, you may be lucky enough to witness some special moments. On my last trip, I came around a bend and met\u00a0a couple that\u00a0had just became engaged. I was able to photograph the moment for them. Now that is testimony to how beautiful this hike is.<\/p>\n

\"Fryman<\/a>
Fryman Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Fryman Canyon in Studio City is another all-time favorite of mine. Offering city views similar to those of the popular Runyun Canyon, I find Fryman to be much quieter and more peaceful. Plus, the large lot makes parking very\u00a0convenient. In addition to the chaparral landscape Southern California is famous for, the end of the trail takes you to a quiet and shady street in the middle of a charming neighborhood just off of Laurel Canyon. Naturally, I appreciate walking by the beautiful homes and I\u2019m sure you will too.<\/p>\n

\"Temescal<\/a>
Temescal Canyon<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Finally, I have to write about Temescal Canyon, the scenic trail located in the center of the Pacific Palisades and just minutes from the office. On the weekends, Sunset Boulevard is lined with cars and people are seen walking into the park at all hours of the day. Two different loops, one more strenuous than the other, make this a perfect spot for experienced hikers or families with young children. If you\u2019re there at the right time of year, catch the gorgeous waterfall, or if its summertime, enjoy the stunning ocean, mountain, and city views from every direction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
