Dutch design studio Tjep<\/strong>\u00a0unveiled its latest body of work\u2014Bronze Age<\/strong>\u2014in the ballroom of the Colloredo Mansfeld Palace during Designblok Prague<\/a>, which took place last week.<\/p>\n

\"Tjep's<\/p>\n

An exquisite collection of furniture\u00a0pieces handcrafted out of bronze, Bronze Age stems from the studio’s 2011 Recession Chair\u2014<\/a>a mass-produced Ikea chair reduced in part to a skeletal shape to evoke the receding state of the global economy.<\/p>\n

\"Tjep's<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this project I wanted to create something totally\u00a0opposite\u00a0to the technology driven trends based on\u00a0the\u00a0emergence\u00a0of new digital tools such as 3D\u00a0printing. I like the idea that bronze is precious and is therefor implicitly sustainable,” says Frank Tjepkema, lead designer and founder of Tjep. “It\u00a0is either preserved or remelted but never discarded; who knows, maybe these pieces contain a couple of remelted ancient bronze swords!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
